Samsung is now making available the Garnet Red version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. The device looks great in Red, and to get the word out to the buyers, Samsung sent out a picture of a Korean Chef model holding the Note 10.1 in its latest color. The image is interesting, not because of the tall chef’s hat, but what’s in the background of the hat.
We’re not sure whether Sammy has done it on purpose or not, but the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 seems to appear on the background. Thanks to the plethora of spy shots, we have seen several images of the upcoming Note tablet from the South Korean technology major.
It’s an 8 inch device, and there’s no doubt that it is the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. The device will be competing with Apple’s iPad mini offering and will come with a substantially lower price tag. Note 8.0 is anticipated to be launched at Mobile World Congress that is going to be held Barcelona in a few days.
The Galaxy Note 8.0 will definitely be a threat to iPad mini which comes with 7.9 inch screen, however, the sequel of the iPad mini will be coming with Retina display which should help it a bit. According to the rumors and the roadmap which were previously leaked, the device will be launched in March and will come with 8-inch 1280 x 800-pixel display, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, a 5-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, support for S Note, S Memo and S Planner, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0, a 4,600mAh battery and E-Book support. The device seems to support 3G as well as 2G frequency bands which suggest that the device may be offered by carriers.
Below is the leaked spec sheet of Note 8.0:
Code name: Kona

Official name: GALAXY Note 8.0 (3G, Wi-Fi)
Product codes: GT-N5100, GT-N5110

Dimensions: 211.3 × 136.3 × 7.95 mm , 330 grams

We can expect the device to retail at a price point of $250 to $300. It’s good value because it’s a Note device; hence it will be supporting all the additional features such as SPen stylus input with help of which you can use the device as a notepad. Samsung could consider giving a higher resolution screen as Apple is planning on Retina Display, but Note 8.0 will definitely have a price benefit over iPad mini. Also, a bigger battery is always welcome, but 4,600 mAh should to do the job.
