If you have been holding out on getting that Samsung Galaxy Note 2 for a good deal, now may be a good time.  Sprint is now selling the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 For $69.99 on Amazon (with two year activation, as usual).

With most of the major smartphone manufacturers set to release new devices within the next two to three months, the carriers should began to let go some of the older models at a discount, even if they were only released within the last three months.  New devices rumored to be released this spring include HTC One (a.k.a. M7), Samsung Galaxy S4, and Apple iPhone 5s (or iPhone 6).  These are all popular devices that may take away market share from of the other devices that were released only from a few months ago.

The Samsung Galaxy Note series has been a surprising hit with consumers.  When the original Galaxy Note was released, skeptics questioned whether consumers would be receptive to a large 5.5 inch screen.  Some labeled the device as a “tweener”, since it is neither a typical smartphone, nor a tablet.  But the sales figures show that the Galaxy Note series is here to stay.  Within a month of the launch, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 sold over 3 million units.

If you are not a Sprint customer, or simply prefer other carriers, the Note 2 can also be had at an discount with AT&T and Verizon.  Keep in mind the phone was originally released at a price point of $299.99, and now the price has been steadily decreasing.
