Orange Telecom launches three new android devices

Over the last few days we have seen a number of smart phone launches by famous brands like Sony, LG even before the MWC and now, Orange, a French telecom company joins the league by launching three new android devices aimed at the mid range market.

Already the company had joined hands with Fujitsu for launching their high end device and with these three smart phones, the company will have four handsets in the market. Orange will finally enter the LTE segment with its LUMO, the first LTE device by the company. The other two devices namely NIVO and San Remo will be aimed at the budget segment.

According to Patrick Remy, the VP of French Telecom, many of the telecom operators are interested in making devices on platforms other than Android. However as currently, android is ruling the market; they are sticking with this operating system. But, we may see Orange’s windows 8 phone or any other OS run phone in the future.

When asked about Mozilla’s Firefox OS, Remy said that they were paying close attention to the various developments of the OS, however he does not guarantee that there will be a Firefox OS run device in the future. He also added that although the company might not be able to compete with the large manufacturer’s like Samsung or Apple, they were still able to attract a lot of customers in the mid range segment.

Orange seems to be doing well in some markets like Spain where its Monte Carlo was a success and its overall sales has risen by 62% as compared to last year. The company is trying to add much more customized orange services to their branded handsets as compared to other telecoms and maybe that’s the reason their handsets have been able to capture a small portion of the market.

The company will be looking forward to launch more devices in various other markets as it has already made deals with ZTE, Huawei, Gigabyte and Alcatel for making their own branded devices. The three devices launched today were from Alcatel and Gigabyte and most probably the next devices to come will be from ZTE and Huawei.

The VP hopes that Orange will be able to provide more customized options for their customers in the future and that they will be providing a preset custom features and applications for their customers in the future like customized lock screens, Orange services from your home country, portability while roaming etc.
