With all the talk about the HTC One/M7 and the Sony Xperia Z as well as the LG Optimus G Pro, we seldom tend to look at mid-ranged offerings. But here’s one from HTC which we can’t afford to look over, especially for the price it’s being offered at. The mid-ranged HTC One VX is being sold for under $1 on Amazon Wireless and AT&T. This could be the gift you were looking for on Valentine’s Day as it doesn’t really cost much to begin with. The offer is available on both AT&T as well as Amazon Wireless, so it shouldn’t matter where you get it as long as you know what you’re getting. The Amazon variant costs $0.01 while getting it directly from AT&T will cost $0.99. The smartphone is available in White and Red variants, and both look pretty slick. Of the two color variants, the white one seems to be the coolest. Normally, the HTC One VX would cost somewhere around $49.99 on a two year contract. It must be noted that AT&T’s deal is valid only until Valentine’s Day and if you head over tomorrow i.e. on the 15th of February, you might not get the discount. However, there’s no word on whether Amazon Wireless will have the offer going forward. But if the history is anything to go by, we should see the offer continue in the coming days.
If you don’t remember what the HTC One VX is, here’s a refresher. The smartphone packs a 4.5-inch qHD display with a resolution of 960×540 pixels. There’s a 1.2 GHz dual core processor on board as well. The smartphone also has a 5MP camera along with 8GB of internal storage. There’s a microSD card slot for memory expansion. A quick run through the specs sheet will tell you that the smartphone isn’t all that old. The HTC One VX comes with a decent enough processor, although it’s nothing to write home about. But all that immediately goes out of the window when we consider the price of the smartphone on offer.
If you’re one to own the latest and greatest of smartphones, the HTC M7 a.k.a the HTC One is supposed to launch early next week. HTC’s aspirations in the mid-ranged segment aren’t all that great, so smartphones like the One V and One VX fill that void. HTC also has a few smartphones in the Desire lineup which spark up the mid-ranged segment quite comfortably, so we’re hoping HTC will bring in more such smartphones in 2013.
