One of the best classic sci-fi top down shooter games has finally made its way to the Android platform. Alien Breed, which is based on the 1991 Amiga platform game, is a remake of the popular classic which is now optimized for your mobile device.

Alien Breed is developed for the Android by Team 17 Digital Limited, the same developer of the original version. You can now download this game over at Google Play for $4.99. You will need a device running on Android 2.2 and a storage space of 50 MB.

The great thing about this Android version of the game is that you can choose the graphics type you want to play with. You can either opt to go classic by playing it on its original old school Amiga graphics or switch to the new enhanced graphics version. Whichever you choose, it’s definitely going to be fun and exciting.

For those unfamiliar with the concept of the gameplay it’s really quite simple. You’ll just need to shoot at the aliens. As simple as it may sound it really involves a lot of stuff such as knowing where to move and managing your ammunition.

The game starts in the year 2191 with the galaxy about to enter war. Your character has just finished 6 boring months of patrol duty on the Intex Network and is about to be shipped back home. Everything would have been perfect if your character went straight home but then an order just came in letting you check out a remote Space Research Center that has suddenly gone silent. As you arrive at the research station its eerie silence sends out signals to you that something is definitely wrong.

You will soon discover that the place is infested with aliens and it’s your job to fight your way through the levels. There are various weapons you can use to blast at the aliens as well as several items that are useful in the game. There’s also an in-app purchase feature that lets you buy stuff various items that you may deem useful.

Unlike the original version of the game though, this mobile version does not support a two player game mode. This means that you’ll have to go on a solo mission to defeat the aliens. This game however has four new levels as well as six new alien levels that are not included in the original game.

If you are looking for a great sci-fi top down shooter game then you simply must try this out.
