The Lords of Midnight Android Game Review

The Lords of Midnight for the Android platform is actually based on the game with the same name released way back in 1984 for the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64. During that time the game just needed 48k of memory to run yet its scope was so grand and epic that few games today can compare to what it has accomplished.

This game is being developed by Chilli Hugger Software Limited and is now available at Google Play for $4.99. You will need a device running on at least Android 2.1 and a storage space of 29 MB.

The first time you run the game you will see that its graphics stays true to the original version. If you’ve played this game in the 80’s then it will bring back nostalgic moments. It’s is actually inspired by The Lord of the Rings books.

In this game your goal is to defeat the evil Doomdark.  There are two ways to do this. One is by amassing a large enough army and overpowering his army. The second method is by finding the Ice Crown and destroying it. You will have to choose which path to take and the gameplay will depend on what choice you make.

If you plan on winning the battle by conquering Doomdark in his citadel then the game becomes a strategy wargame.   If you choose the Ice Crown path then the game becomes a graphic adventure type. Whatever choice you make is sure to give you countless hours of fun and excitement.

At the beginning of the game you will have four characters to control. You will be able to add countless others by travelling across the world and recruiting allies. The game employs a day and night cycle which is actually a clever use of a turn based system.

In the battle route you will need to recruit as much allies as possible to provide the infantry for your army. The bigger your army the more likely it will be successful in laying sieges to enemy fortresses.

The Ice Crown route on the other hand employs a much subtler technique where you need to solve clues and recruit the right allies to join you in your quest.
