Polaroid To Release $229 M10 Tablet This Spring

Polaroid’s M10 tablet is but one of the several slates that the camera company has on display during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013 in Las Vegas. The other tablets are seven-inchers called the M7 and the Kids Tablet.

The M10 tablet’s full list of specifications at the moment is still incomplete, but interested consumers at least may know its key features.

The M10, as implied by its name, sports a 10-inch IPS display. This screen has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and ensures good viewing angles.

Under the hood, it features a quad-core processor. Its internal storage capacity is 16GB, which is still expandable through a built-in microSD card. The tablet comes with stock Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Polaroid widgets.

Unlike the M7, the M10 has two cameras onboard. The front-facing one has a 2-megapixel image sensor whereas the rear-facing camera has a 5-megapixel sensor. It is worth mentioning that its 2-megapixel front camera is better than many of the front cameras found in other tablets, attesting to Polaroid’s continued commitment to helping users produce better images.

The M10’s connectivity options are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. An HDMI output port is also available in case users want to view the screen contents on a larger display such as a computer monitor or an HD television.

The Polaroid M10 is deemed as a more affordable alternative to the Google Nexus 10 tablet or the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablet. The low price, however, comes with some compromises. For one thing, the specifications of the Polaroid M10 are lower than those found on the Nexus 10 and Kindle Fire HD 8.9. A case in point would be the higher screen resolutions of the aforementioned tablets, which are 2560 x 1600 pixels and 1920 x 1200 pixels, respectively. Still, if you’re on a budget and don’t mind the lower specifications, the Polaroid M10 might be worth checking out.

The M10, along with the M7, are scheduled to be available on market shelves beginning Spring.
