Alcatel Announces EVO 7 And EVO 7 HD Tablets

Alcatel is capitalizing on the currently held CES to promote its new products. Despite being a relatively small player in the Android market the company has been aggressively introducing new devices that are quite good. Today they have announced two Android tablets called the EVO 7 and the EVO 7 HD that come with pretty impressive specifications.

EVO 7 Specifications

  • 7-inch WSVGA (1,024 x 600)
  • single-core 1GHz CPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB of built-in storage
  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
  • VGA camera on the front
  • microSD slot
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • optional HSPA+ 21 module

EVO 7 HD Specifications

  • 7-inch WXGA (1,280 x 800)
  • a dual-core 1.6GHz CPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB of built-in storage
  • 3-megapixel rear camera
  • front-facing VGA camera
  • 802.11 b/g/n (WiFi)
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Base price is $179
  • with a removable 3G module $249
  • with a removable 4G module $349

Based on the spec sheet we could see that the EVO 7 HD is far more superior to the EVO 7. Its use of a dual core processor and a better screen resolution make it the better choice. We’re also impressed by the way the company is giving consumers different options on how to connect to their mobile network by offering a removable 3G and 4G module which are of course optional.

Although the EVO 7 HD already has a detailed price list the company has not announced any price for the EVO 7. We are guessing though that it will cost less since it comes with underwhelming specifications.

Also at CES the company unveiled three new smartphones that will hit the market soon. These models called the Idol, the Idol Ultra, and the 5″ Scribe HD comes with impressive spec sheets.

This year will be a busy year for Alcatel as they try to take in a bigger slice of the Android market. Releasing various devices at different price points seems like a good start for them to compete against the bigger players.
