If you’re as excited as ZTE is to take the wraps off their newest flagship device, then you’d mark December 26 as an important date. That’s when the China-based electronics company is officially unveiling the Nubia Z5.
ZTE even created a website dedicated to their newest smartphone. On the website, the company has provided a countdown to the days, hours, and minutes until the smartphone is revealed, so you can join their anticipation.
It would be recalled that earlier, it had been allegedly leaked that the Nubia Z5 would be launched today. However, the Gizchina blog points out that this was never confirmed by ZTE. Furthermore, some Chinese websites surmise that the launch was indeed rescheduled because of the release of the Meizu MX2, Meizu’s new flagship smartphone, last December 19. Others suggest that the postponement is due to the delay of the Qualcomm S4 processor, which the smartphone is said to be featuring.
In any case, the new launch date is still within the holiday shopping season, which could bring high earnings for ZTE.
Some of its specifications and images have already been reportedly leaked on the Weibo microblogging website. As per the leak, the ZTE Nubia Z5 is expected to have a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean onboard. It will also likely come with a 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-inch 1080p display. It will be powered by a 2,500mAh battery. It is also said to have a unibody frame that measures only 7.66mm thin. The Nubia Z5 is estimated to retail for around $400.
ZTE has been fairly busy lately. In January, during the CES trade show, the company will showcase the Grand S smartphone, a 5-inch quad-core phablet, as well as the Grand X Pro, which is dubbed as “the world’s first eight-core smartphone.”
