Google Play Names Best Games of 2012

Following the release of the list of best apps on the Play Store, the Google Play team has published a list of their favorite games. Like the best apps list, the best games selection was chosen not based on the number of downloads or ratings from users, but merely on the judgment of the Google Play team.


There are 12 games in the list, half of which cost less than a dollar, and half, cost-free. The games are of different kinds, including shooter games, runner games, puzzle games, and strategy games.

They are: The Bard’s Tale by Inxile Entertainment, Nun Attack by Frima Studio, Inc., Granny Smith by Mediocre, Zookeeper Battle by Kiteretsu, Inc., Devil’s Attorney by Senri Ab, Strikefleet Omega by 6Waves, Funky Smugglers by 11 Bit Studios, Shadowgun: Deadzone by Madfinger Games, Need For Speed: Most Wanted by EA, Hamlet by Alawar Entertainment, Inc., Subway Surfers by Kiloo Games, and Naught by Blue Shadow Games S.L.

The Bard’s Tale is an RPG that features a rogue man involved in action and intrigue. This game offers a 50% discount at the moment, “in celebration that the world didn’t end.” Nun Attack is an action game featuring as the name suggests a nun as the main character. Granny Smith, for its part, has an old woman chasing a thief as its lead. Zookeeper Battle invites users to capture animals in 30 seconds. Devil’s Attorney is a strategy game that lets users take on the role of Max McMann, a lawyer who has to battle it out against prosecutors in the courtroom. Strikefleet Omega, a game set in space, gives gamers the task of saving the Earth through leading warships. Funky Smugglers, which calls itself the “grooviest mobile game ever,” is a retro-themed arcade action game. Shadowgun: Deadzone is a multi-player game that features voice chat. Need For Speed: Most Wanted is a racing game with high-quality graphics and gameplay that is good enough for consoles. Hamlet is a game that combines the Shakespearean play and time travel. Subway Surfers is a colorful runner game. Lastly, Naught, is makes use of gravity to control the game.
