More than 50 carriers now testing BlackBerry 10

When you speak of BlackBerry these days, the talk is either about how the company is losing its business clients, or about the new BlackBerry 10 operating system that the Canadian company has slated for launch in the first quarter of the next year. This is about the second topic. The company is very excited today, as it has passed one of its milestones in the journey to the BlackBerry 10 launch, and the milestone is lab entry to several wireless carriers around the world.

The company has said that more than 50 carriers around the world are now formally testing BlackBerry 10 units, the operating system, and the software on these devices to make them compatible to their networks. This has to be great news for the company, good enough for a celebration call. We can now be somewhat sure that the Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of BlackBerry, will be indeed able to launch the device in the first quarter of 2013. After the break, find the complete statement from the company’s CEO, Thorsten Heins.

Thorsten Heins says that he has been on a constant move with these carrier partners discussing release plans and strategies for releasing the smart phone on their networks. The CEO of the Canadian company also says that the different teams of in the company are busy with the technical and commercial preparation for the launch of the device.

On the other hand, Thorsten Heins says that the development team that works from within the company is busy building a lot of great apps for the new BlackBerry 10 operating system, which plays a major role in the process of making a platform a success. Also, the enterprise team is already presenting prototypes to the company’s business customers so that they can test out the integration of the new platform with their current IT setup and decided if it can work on the full time basis. Research in Motion (RIM) has already lost few very important business customers, and it cannot afford to lose any more.
