Owners of HTC One X in India have a reason to rejoice because the much anticipated Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for HTC’s flagship finally comes. The update is expected to come with better user interface than the previous version, much improved notification system, improved camera functionality, and hundreds of tweaks, system enhancements and massive bug fixes.
The Jelly Bean update for HTC One X will reportedly come in two parts; first, there would be a smaller update to prepare the phone for, second, the bigger update that would bring about all necessary packages and files to make everything about the device’s software better. While JB is said to be using the core architecture of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, this update is a major one.
According to reports of owners who have already updated their device to the latest version of Android, the first part will come in a 1.25MB package. Tech people say it would delete some conflicting files and replace it with new ones in preparation for the bigger update. The major update, however, reaches up to 357MB in size so each owner who wishes to update their device should ensure their internet connection is stable and good.
Two of the reasons why HTC One X Jelly Bean update is bigger than expected is because of the manufacturer’s Sense UI that would also be bumped to 4+ version. The other reason is that the update also comes with support for four Indian dialects: Punjabi, Oriya, Malayalam, Kannada.
HTC, despite its financial problems, is still one of the few manufacturers that package their devices with their own user interfaces. Jelly Bean comes with really good interface but to make things sleeker and more HTC-ish, the manufacturer has to face the trouble of developing Sense UI and update it every time a new Android version hits its devices.
