HTC DROID DNA name appears on Verizon’s website

Few weeks back a new minimum advertising price (MAP) sheet was leaked to Android Central with the likely pricing for many of the big red carrier’s upcoming devices. One of the notable devices included in that list was the “HTC DROID DNA”. Now, the rumored HTC Droid DNA, which is Verizon’s 5-inch HTC device has shown up on the carrier’s own website.

If you visit this page, you will see that there is a list of the carrier’s Android devices which don’t come with a removable battery, and the list includes the name “HTC Droid DNA ADR6435”. Above is the screenshot of the list pointing out location of the name. Clicking the link however leads to a parking page which says that there is no information regarding soft reset on the DROID DNA.

The HTC DROID DNA is anticipated to be an Android smartphone equipped with 5-inch, 1080p display similar to the one found on the HTC J Butterfly which was announced in Japan. HTC J Butterfly, as we know, is the first Android device to have a 1080p display. The device is using a new screen technology called as “Super LCD 3”, which is the next generation of “Super LCD 2″ display that is used on HTC One X.

We have seen a lot of rumors about HTC Droid DNA lately. Some of the rumors referred the device with a codename DLX whereas others pointed it out with the model number ADR6435. According to the benchmark results which were leaked back in July, the 6435LVW will be packing in a display with an impressive resolution of 1794×1080 and Android 4.0.4. Under the hood is a 1.5GHz MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 chip, and according to the leaked benchmarks, the 6435LVW is having an Adreno 320 GPU, which means the processor isn’t the Pro variant of Snapdragon S4.

Other leaks suggest that the DROID DNA will be sporting quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 16GB of internal storage, 2GB RAM, 8MP camera, and will be running Jelly Bean out of the box. Surely, the benchmark results are pretty old and don’t say anything about the final product.
According to sources, the DLX/DROID DNA is expected to launch on Verizon around Thanksgiving, which will be in mid-November. The MAP list showed that the handset will come with a price tag of $199.99 and a MAP start date of November 20th.

A device with an industry leading 1080p display for $199 on 2-year contract sounds really great. Other interesting devices listed in the MAP notice include Nokia Lumia 822 and HTC Windows Phone 8X. The Lumia 822 will be coming in three color variants – black, gray and white models – with a MAP price of $99.99 and a start date of November 12. HTC’s Windows Phone 8X will also be coming in three color combinations – red, black and blue – with a MAP price of $199.99 and start date of November 12.

Samsung and LG will be launching their own smartphones with 1080p display very soon. What are your thoughts on these devices? Let us know using the comment form below.
