AT&T makes Nokia Lumia 920, 820 & HTC 8X official

Nokia Lumia 920 is definitely a good Windows Phone 8 device. Previously this week, I had written about a spotting found on Nokia’s website which suggested that Lumia 920 will be launching on AT&T for $149.99 with a signed 2 year contract. As we know, Nokia Lumia 920 is an AT&T carrier exclusive model, and AT&T didn’t confirm the pricing of the device until now.

AT&T has published a press-release and it has finally made three new Windows Phone 8 smartphones official. For those who were happy reading that Lumia 920 will be costing only $149.99, here’s a news that will make you even more happier. AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 will now cost only $100 with a 2-year contract, and not $150 as previously rumored, and this time the word is from the carrier itself, so there should be no doubts about it. Along with the pricing of Windows Phone 8 handsets, AT&T has also published release dates.

For those who are eyeing on the cheaper version of Lumia 920, which is the Lumia 820, AT&T will be giving it out at $49.99 with a 2 year contract. Customers will be able to purchase either Lumia 920 or 820 from November 9th onwards. Another interesting phone that has been officially announced is the Windows Phone 8X by HTC. Before Thanksgiving, customers can pick-up the Windows Phone 8X by HTC with 16 GB of memory for $199.99. There’s also a carrier exclusive 8GB version of Windows Phone 8X which will be sold for $99.99. Customers can choose from either California Blue or Limelight (yellow) variant of 8X. It should be noted that AT&T is only carrier to offer this device in Limelight.

“Our Windows Phone portfolio features the best designs for the fantastic experience of Windows Phone 8,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices and Developer Services, AT&T Mobility. “Combine that with very exciting prices and our customers have lots of good reasons to choose Windows Phone this holiday season.”

Lumia 920 comes with PureView camera technology which makes it stand out of the crowd of other WP8 devices. Apart from PureView, the 920 comes with high-res screen, and wireless charging capabilities. AT&T will apparently start accepting pre-orders for Lumia 920 from November 7 onwards, and to make the deal sweeter, AT&T will be giving away free wireless charger along with 920, but the offer is available only for limited time and while supplies last, so you better hurry if you have been planning for one.

Lumia 820 is equally good, and the $50 price tag definitely makes it a good deal. It has a 4.3-inch AMOLED screen, 8-megapixel camera, and is powered by the same Snapdragon S4 processor that is inside the 920. Like the 920, AT&T will start accepting pre-orders for the 820 from November 7th onwards.

Apart from all this, another major announcement is the availability of Samsung ATIV smart PC, which is a Windows 8 based tablet. Beginning Nov. 9, the ATIV smart PC will be available from AT&T. What are your thoughts on these announcements?
