Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S3, S2 and Note may come very soon

Recent reports suggest that the much anticipated roll out of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates for Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note is near. This is after millions of owners in the United States were disappointed and complained about Samsung’s delay and reluctance to roll out updates even for its older devices.

Many believed that the manufacturer’s legal battle with Apple is taking its toll. Hence, the reason for all the delays in releasing necessary firmware upgrade for owners who still believe its devices are among the most competitive handsets in the market today.

Owners of devices from Samsung under the umbrella of Rogers in Canada are reportedly going to receive the update by the end of this month. The Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE version will be the first one to get the system bump to Android 4.1. The Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note may receive Jelly Bean in the first week of December.

In UK, owners of unlocked GS3 started receiving notification of the availability of the update since last week of October. People who got subsidized versions are still waiting to get the latest firmware, though. Sources who have knowledge about it said it was Samsung’s intention not to roll out the update for everybody as there could still be some bugs that needed fixed. Though, it seems like only a few complained about errors while updating and majority of them were user-initiated errors.

In the US, only the GS3 owners under Sprint network were given the opportunity to enjoy the goodness of the latest version of Android. But even so, not all of its customers were given access to the update at first; it was believed that the carrier itself conducted a test to see if the new firmware could cause disruption in its services.

The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is considered the biggest update in the history of Android. The upcoming version 4.2 will still utilize the name “Jelly Bean” instead of the expected Key Lime Pie. Samsung posted a webpage showing the list of regions that will receive the update.
