A new smartphone from LG has caught our eye. Known as the Optimus L9, the smartphone seems like a droid which would fit in perfectly with the rest of LG’s 2012 lineup. Evidently, the L9 is a mid-ranged smartphone so don’t expect to see quad core goodness inside. However, this is merely a leak for now courtesy of @evleaks on Twitter, so we wouldn’t speculate just yet. Evleaks has been a reliable source and has gotten things right with a few other smartphones in the past, most notably the HTC Windows Phone 8X (then known as the HTC Accord). The smartphone seems to be heading over to T-Mobile as evidenced from the markings on the smartphone. The device goes by the model number P769.
If preliminary specs are to be believed, the L9 will feature a 4.7-inch qHD display, a dual core processor (exact details not known), 1GB of RAM, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with LG’s new and improved Optimus UI on board and a massive 2,150 mAh battery to power the smartphone. While the specs don’t exactly tag this under the mid-range segment, it doesn’t take a genius to guess that T-Mobile’s new addition will grab some eyeballs when it arrives. The back of the smartphone looks pretty standard with the traditional LG look while the front has a neat and polished look to it. It has a hardware button which acts as the home key and two capacitive buttons on either sides.
LG is having a great time at the market with the recently launched Optimus G, Optimus L7, Optimus Vu II and the Optimus 4X HD. T-Mobile is the country’s fourth largest carrier which is turning out to be the go-to place for mid ranged smartphones. The Optimus L9 will be on top of their shelves. The Samsung Galaxy Note II is touted to arrive on T-Mobile fairly soon, so this should make a great addition to the carrier’s inventory. Exact details on the availability of the smartphone are pretty scarce, but we should expect a formal announcement and launch in the next couple of weeks. What do you think of the LG Optimus L9, will it get any takers?
