Are you a fan of retro gaming? Specifically some older classics such as Rollercoaster Tycoon and Dungeons and Dragons? If you are, I have some good news for those who own an Android device. Atari has just announced a new wide range of titles that they will be preparing for Android devices, which includes both Rollercoaster Tycoon and Dungeons & Dragons: Warbands. Atari has given us a vague window saying that these two games are slated for an early 2013 release. While we have a little bit to wait, I definitely am in support for the idea of Rollercoaster Tycoon on the Android platform.
Many hours have been sunk into Rolercoaster Tycoon back in the 90’s when it originally released on the PC. I’m going to throw out a wile guess here, but it is also very possible that the same could be said for when the Android or mobile version of the game launches. Dungeons & Dragons: Warband is essentially going to be a virtual recreation of a game that you would usually play with collectible figurines and cards. Based off of how popular the Dungeons & Dragons universe is right now, I am going to go ahead and say that Warband is going to be pretty popular among users as well.
We have been pretty spoiled as of late with some really good looking mobile games based off of the Unreal Engine. You can take Bards Tale or Horn for an example; two very excellent looking games. I guess you could also throw Renaissance in that list as well. It is another beautifully looking game that really compliments how far Android has come in terms of the graphics.
I’m actually pretty excited for a mobile version of Rollercoaster Tycoon, this is arguable one of the best classics and was something that I used to play quite a bit of. It is important to note that Atari is talking about the original Rollercoaster Tycoon from the 90’s, not the many other terrible remakes of the game, so what you will be paying for is the classic version of the game. One other thing that we should keep in mind is that games coming out of Atari and many of the other bigger companies often are not up to par in terms of quality that you would be expecting. You can take a lot of Electronic Art’s and Namco’s games for example. At least 90% of those games are fully of bugs and glitches that the companies — for some reason — are not updating.
When Atari released Rollercoaster Tycoon and Dungeons & Dragons: Warband, will you be one of the people to pick the title(s) up? Would you be one of the people that would dump hours upon hours into the game? Have you played Rollercoaster Tycoon on the desktop before, are you excited to see it getting developed for the mobile platform? Surely some of our readers out here are fans of these older classics!
