We have previously had a lot of rumors suggesting 8 gig version of Nexus 7 being axed off the Play Store, and yesterday it did happen. The official listing on the Play Store for the famous 8GB version of Nexus 7 was updated to show the device as “coming soon”. It was said that the 8 gig version would be replaced with the already existing 16 gig version of the tablet, and as far the development of the story goes, things are indeed going in the right direction. We have already seen Google getting rid of 8 gig Nexus 7 yesterday. The 8 gig version will be replaced by the 16 gig version and in place of 16 gig trim, Google will be launching an all-new 32 gig version.
There’s no doubt that the 32 gig version will be launched soon. Though not launched or announced officially, we have had several leaks in the past which look very believable. Previously, the 32 gig Nexus 7 popped up on a shopping brochure which listed the device along with its price tag. The shopping brochure was actually a Christmas gift guide for Argos – a popular U.K. retailer. According to the brochure, the 32 gig version would cost £199, which converts to about $320. What we know already is that the 16 gig version is also being sold across the country for same price.
Coming to the US availability topic, the 32 gig Nexus 7 popped up few days back on Staples’ website of business retailer or Staples Advantage to be precise. The variant was priced at $248.37, which is below the 16GB model’s tag of $251.49. Now, we are pretty near to the announcement of this new variant and Office Depot has already updated the tablet to its listings.
The 32 gig Nexus tablet would set you back by $249.99. It’s a bit weird because even the 16 gig Nexus 7 is priced the same, so if you’re planning to buy a Nexus 7 now, make sure you choose the right option as there are two variants retailing at the same price point.
The 32 GB Nexus 7 is expected to be announced on October 29th. The search engine giant has already sent out press invites that is going to take place on October 29th at 10:00AM in NYC. As far as other products which are going to be launched at this event is concerned, the only clue which Google has given us in the invite is the quote “The playground is open,” and the invite looks a bit like Google Now screen. We are anticipating the launch of LG Nexus 4, Google Nexus 10, a new version of Android (Android 4.2), and the 32GB Nexus 7 of course.
Now that Google Nexus 10 and the LG Nexus 4 are all ready to make an official appearance on Monday, let’s keep our fingers crossed and see how revolutionary these devices will be. What are your expectations from this event? Let us know in the comment sections below.
