Modern Combat 4 Dev Diary Released

Gameloft has been creating an upcoming military shooter for Android, and have dubbed it Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour. It was announced just a few weeks ago, and we are actually getting to see what we can expect from this game today. That said, Gameloft has created a trailer for the game, and so far, the graphics are coming along really nice. There are also some new vehicle animation and the developers have also made some sort of emphasis on the oh-so popular “ragdoll” physics. We also will be able to expect the movement system in the game getting a bit of an update as well, that should be keeping the regular jump and duck key fumbling to a very minor minimum. I hope that it keeps it to an minimum, but really, it is a touch based shooter, and the vision of shooters most people have tend to be very console related. So, who know how that will be working out.

The gameplay video has also shown a behind the scenes look at the cinematic and hand-to-hand combat, as well as giving off a few hints from the game’s writer that we will be able to play both the hero of the game and the villain during the campaign. Of course, this game still takes a lot from Modern Warfare and Battlefield 3 from the PC, which is rather disappointing as you almost hope for something new and unique. Modern Combat 4 is set to release later on “this fall,” but for now, we’ll be able to see a look into the multiplayer functions on Modern Combat 4 within the next dev diary. You will be able to learn more about this from their official website as well.

Was anyone really a fan of Modern Combat 3? Do you think that Modern Combat 4 is starting to shape up to be something a ton better than its predecessor, or do you think it’s just go to basically be the same thing with a a few different improvements? Are mobile games going to have a shot towards competing with these giant titles like Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3, or do you think that it’s just a waste of time? Right now, I don’t think mobile games are really in a spot to be competing with console and PC games, as the budget difference is drastically high, and as of right now, there are still a lot of things on the PC that can be done a whole lot better than mobile. I just don’t think mobile games are really going to be able to get to an AAA point in the industry, at least not yet. They still have a lot of growing to do, and constantly doing rehashes like Modern Combat, isn’t going to grow this industry. There needs to be more creativity I think, and at that point, we’ll be seeing a lot better games, and games that will be able to compete with the PC and console industry.

Any thoughts on that? Let us know in the comments below!
