Lookout Security & Antivirus Adds Signal Flare Feature

Lookout, Inc. refreshed the Lookout Security & Antivirus app for Android devices with several new enhancements.

Among these is the Signal Flare feature, a useful function for those who tend to lose their phones. According to Lookout, people who lose their phones often rely on their phone’s battery to locate their missing or stolen device. However, once the battery dies, it becomes very difficult to find the phone. To address this problem, the Signal Flare feature enables phones to flag the handset’s location once its battery gets low. This, of course, is not a guarantee that the phone will be found, but it might give users a clue as to where their mobile device might be.

Another enhancement is a comple design overhaul that is inspired by current trends in Android operating system designs. This allows the phone to blend seamlessly with the appearance of one’s handset. Furthermore, the app’s fresh and easy-to-use interface facilitates the use of its various features.

Lookout also incorporated an Activity Feed, a dashboard that provides users with a look into how the app is working against threats to mobile security, as well as organizes notifications.

Lastly, Lookout offers Safe Dialer protection, which prevents phones from being susceptible to dialer-based mobile threats. Essentially, this feature examines the phone numbers that users call and gives a warning if calling said number poses a security threat, such as erasing phone data.

The Lookout app remains free to download from Google Play. However, those who feel they need extra security may get the Lookout Premium upgrade, which costs $2.99 per month.

Lookout currently boasts of having over 25 million customers and being “the most downloaded mobile security and antivirus app in the Google Play Store.” It has gotten recognition from CNET as a “Must-Have App” and from TechCrunch as one of the “Top 10 Best Free Apps.” It has also been regarded as an app that gives “Excellent antivirus protection” by PC Mag, and rated by PCWorld with “5 out of 5 stars.”
