Huawei Y300 announced, features dual-core, Jelly Bean for just $250

Being one of the largest mobile device manufacturers in the world, Huawei is unlikely to miss any tech fair held in any country. A couple of days ago, during the tech fair in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Chinese company revealed one of its upcoming entry-level device; Huawei Y300.

It is not clear whether Huawei Y300 will be marketed outside the Chinese market or not but the company hails it to be the cheapest device running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as its native operating system but aside from that, it has decent specs to compete, and eventually take the lead, in the entry-level market. Here are some of the specs confirmed during the announcement:

Chipset. According to reports, Huawei Y300 is most likely to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 as it was revealed it will run on a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. So far, it is the most stable system-on-chip that will work perfectly with Jelly Bean. Another possibility, albeit distant, is STE Novathor U8420. It is the one used by Samsung for Galaxy S3 Mini.

Display. Huawei Y300 will get a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen like Ascend W1 with 800 x 480 pixels resolution. Taking this into consideration, it is more likely that Huawei will use Qualcomm chipset because of the integrated graphics processor. Apparently, this display is not close to being impressive but it surely gives justice to its price.

Memory. It will be given 512MB RAM and most probably a 4GB internal memory. For a Jelly Bean device, these specs seem to be so low but it basically proves JB doesn’t need that much memory to run.

Battery. With 1730mAh battery, Y300 is expected to last at least, 6 hours of straight usage depending on the number of apps running in the background. With such power, it will stay ahead of its competitors in the same market.

Huawei Y300 could be the answer to the prayers of Android lovers who want to own a device with the latest OS inside but offered at a considerably low price. Huawei, albeit a Chinese company, has been doing great in assuring its customers that most of its devices come with high quality standards. Hopefully, Y300 will offer the quality everyone deserves.
