HTC J Butterfly 5 inch smartphone announced in Japan

We have been reading about a lot or rumors concerning the 5 inch smart phone that HTC was rumoured to release. We even saw a few leaked images of the smart phone. It was rumoured that the smart phone would be called the HTC DROID Incredible X, or the HTC DIX, when the smart phone would get released on Verizon. But that does not seem to be the case. The Taiwanese company has just announced the smart phone in Japan, and it is called the HTC J Butterfly, the name is a bit girly, I know.

The 5 inch bigger screen form factor for a smart phone seems to be gaining momentum now. It started with the Samsung Galaxy Note first generation. Then there is one 5 inch smart phone from LG, the Samsung Galaxy Note II with a massive 5.55 inch display, and now the girly HTC J Butterfly with a 5 inch display.

The HTC J Butterfly’s five inch display in a Super LCD 3 display and has a resolution of 1, 920 x 1, 080 pixels, that is fully HD. Not just that, the display also has a very impressive pixel per inch count of 440 ppi. The smart phone runs on a 1.5 GHz quad core Snapdragon APQ8064 processor, which is expected to a Snapdragon S4 Pro series processor. There will be 2 GB of RAM, and an awesome 8 mega pixel camera on the back.

For media consumption people, there will be 16 GB of on board storage, and can be expanded with a microSD card if that is not enough. To power up all these, the smart phone has a bigger battery, rating in at 2, 020 mAh. And for Jelly Bean fans, the smart phone comes with Jelly Bean out of the box.

The smart phone will be available in black, white, and red, what we had seen in the leaked images. But the sad news is that the smart phone will be in Japan only. There is no news of an international release of the smart phone. But the display is expected to be ported to other HTC smart phones with some modifications in the underlying hardware.
