Samsung Reveals All Devices That Are Getting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

We’ve just heard that Samsung’s flahship device, the Galaxy S III, is starting to get Jelly Bean Android 4.1. Such a luxurious and mouth watering update, but that’s not all Samsung Electronics has announced. The promised land is upon us, sort of. Since we’ll all never be able to get the best of the best in terms of Android updates, maybe that last statement isn’t so true. Still, Samsung has some exciting news for us in the world of Android. The Korean tech giant has released the entire list of devices that will be getting the boost to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Of course, as was mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S III is the first of many devices set to get the update to Jelly Bean.

The update promises to bring Project Butter, which is a magical Google tweak that will be bringing devices some buttery smooth lag-free experience, but Samsung is also bringing its own features to the table. The company will be adding it’s own TouchWiz flavors to the handset. As an example, in the PopUp Play application, the feature where you are able to play video while also doing something else, you’ll be able to adjust the dimensions or size of the windows the video is playing in. It’s not extremely extraordinary, but who would ever turn down features like that?

Here’s the bad news though. They’ve said the update is going to be released soon, but have said nothing specific. That means we could be seeing the Jelly Bean update for the list of devices roll out between now and the year 2014 (a bit of an overstatement, but gets the point across). Whatever the case, I’m actually pretty impressed that even Samsung’s most affordable handsets like the Galaxy Mini II are going to be receiving this update. I didn’t think the hardware could handle it, but then again, Samsung is known for saying that they’ll create “dumbed” versions of Jelly Bean if needed. At least you get that psychological feeling that it’s all there, right? Other fairly advanced phones like the Galaxy S III and mid-level phones like the Ace 2 are all there set for Jelly Bean too. Check out the full list below, it’s full of awesomeness:

  • Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
  • Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
  • Galaxy Note 10.1
  • Galaxy S II
  • Galaxy Note
  • Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
  • Galaxy S Advance
  • Galaxy S II LTE
  • Galaxy Music
  • Galaxy Chat
  • Galaxy Ace 2
  • Galaxy Beam
  • Galaxy Ace Plus
  • Galaxy Mini II
  • Galaxy S DUOS

One of the really notable devices in the list is Samsung’s original 10.1 inch Galaxy Tab. It was at the end of its update cycle and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was supposed to be its last upgrade, but it seems that Samsung may have overlooked things in that area. Whatever the case, we’re just happy it’s another device going to get this delicious update.

It all seems like a pretty solid update last, I’d say. You’ve got the Galaxy S II there, the Galaxy Tabs, Galaxy Note and etc. Still, if this is the full update list for Jelly Bean, I’d have to say that there really isn’t a lot hear compared to all of the devices that they’ve been releasing and are still releasing. Who knows, maybe they just didn’t want to tell us what unreleased devices would have in terms of Android versions.

Anyone getting excited yet?!
