Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G coming to T-Mobile soon

With a lot of phones with weird names already in the market, T-Mobile USA and Samsung Mobile have announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G Android smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G has been rumored for a long time now.

Jumping to specs, Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G boasts a 4 inch Super AMOLED display and has a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. Powering the mobile is a dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, which may not be as powerful as the S4 that the phone was rumored to come with. In the imaging department, there’s a 5 megapixel camera on its rear with LED flash, while the front is taken care of by a 1.3 megapixel camera which makes video chats possible. With this device, users can access speedy internet using the handset’s 42Mbps HSPA+ radio.

So what’s special in this device? Well, it’s the hardware keyboard. We can hear hardware keyboard lovers cheering after hearing the news about the launch of Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G. The device has a full 5-row QWERTY keyboard which makes it stand out of the crowd. If it wasn’t for the keyboard, it would be just a “me too” Android mid-ranger with not so exciting specs.

The Galaxy S Relay 4G is also a SAFE (Samsung Approved for Enterprise)-designated, which should be a great news for corporate users. The device offers a full portfolio of enterprise-ready features and capabilities. Samsung SAFE offers comprehensive IT Policy support for top-tier mobile device management (MDM) solutions, on-device AES-256 bit encryption. VPN and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync are also supported. Apart from all this, the full 5-row QWERTY keyboard should allow enterprise users quickly view and edit documents accurately and share files instantly.

The phone will be booting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. As per the news, the device will support Wi-Fi Calling and allow creation of Smartphone Mobile HotSpot using which up to five devices can hook up with Galaxy S Relay 4G, with of course a qualifying rate plan.

“Consumers are increasingly looking for a powerful device that makes it easy to integrate their busy work and personal lives,” Andrew Morrison, vice president of product management for T-Mobile USA, said in a statement. “The Galaxy S Relay 4G is the perfect addition to T-Mobile’s popular Galaxy smartphone lineup, providing our customers with a reliable and business-centric Android experience – and the easy access to entertainment for which Galaxy devices are known,” Morrison added.

It would make a great entertainment device too, thanks to its 4 inch Super AMOLED display which offers vibrant colors along with impressive contrast ratio. Entertainment features include support for T-Mobile TV in mobile HD2 which enables the user to watch live TV programming. Samsung has Samsung Media Hub from its side, which can be used for renting and buying the latest movies and TV shows. In addition, users can stream or purchase music using Google Play Music. The 5 megapixel camera on the rear can shoot HD videos at 720p.
Does Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G manage to impress you? T-Mobile will be having it in its retail stores in a few weeks. On-contract pricing is yet to be announced, but it better be aggressive. Let us know your thoughts using the comment form below.
