Reports suggesting that Taiwanese manufacturer HTC is going after Windows Phone 8 market have already been confirmed but it left an impression that it is planning to go easy on Android. However, recent leaks say HTC is not really giving up on producing high-quality Android smartphones. The fact is a 5-incher smartphone-tablet hybrid that goes by the name of HTC DIx with a model number 6435LVW might just be announced in the following weeks.
There has been a photo of a mysterious black HTC device being circulated on the web just recently but it didn’t have a name or specs that go with it. The recent information we received, however, suggests that the new device HTC is developing will come with pretty design and impressive specs.
HTC Source, a website that publishes mostly HTC-related news and updates, is suggesting DIx means “DROID Incredible X.” If this is true, then we might be seeing a much bigger Droid device soon. Others may call it “phablet,” but many tech enthusiasts prefer to call it “hybrid.”
A source said it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor and will feature a 1080p full HD 5-inch display with around 480 Pixels per Inch (PPI) density. We might just speculating here but we have a good reason to believe that it will sport Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor which comes packed with Adreno 320 graphics processing unit which allows a resolution of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels (or even higher) on a 5-inch screen. HTC will also give this handset 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Perhaps, the smartphone that might be able to compete it is the recently announced Oppo Find 5, which will sport almost the same specs.
While everyone, especially HTC fans, are hoping for this news to be true, it actually contradicts to previous rumors about HTC 6435LVW. A source who is allegedly working for HTC said 6435LVW will sport Qualcomm’s dual-core processor and pixel density was reportedly just around 418ppi. So, there could be two different HTC devices we might be seeing in the near future. But none of these reports have been confirmed by HTC yet.
Suggestions on pricing and availability of either HTC DIx or HTC 6435LVW are not available as of the moment but based on the previous HTC releases, rumored devices are often true and real but names may vary depending on the region where they will be released.
