Remember that Kickstarter project that would find a new Broken Sword adventure game that went live only a couple of weeks ago? Yeah, it hit the $400,000 target already. That doesn’t mean it’s time to stop funding the game though! In fact, the developers have said if they reach the $1 million mark, it will provide enough funding to start on a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky.
“For many years we have wanted to write a sequel to our 1994 classic adventure. If we reach this goal we will start work on this exciting, much-demanded project, and implement Easter eggs in Broken Sword: the Serpent’s Curse, offering a glimpse of this futuristic dystopia,” said a Revolution representative in an update post.
The company has released a lesser stretch of goals that will lead up to the BASS 2 remake also. $500k will give Revolution enough money so that they can implement some of the characters and puzzles that they have already had to cut because of a lack of funds. $650k will add “a whole swathe of adventuring in the exotic cradle of civilisation, exploring lost ruins and uncovering long forgotten secrets,” while the $800k target will provide enough resources and funding for the return of a numerous amount of classic characters, more Easter eggs, and a director’s commentary on the game. If you’re keeping up to date on the project, you’ll notice that the developers are really excited to make this happen and have a real passion to finish the game and deliver it to the consumer. It’s really cool to see a company really passionate about their game instead of the greedy corporate studios out there.
“The whole team is dancing around the room in celebration. We are so excited. For the first time ever, we have full creative control of a Broken Sword game, and it’s all down to you. We cannot thank you enough for your generous support!”
