The Samsung Galaxy Stellar made headlines last week when its on-contract price was leaked. The device was said to be heading to Verizon where it will be sold for $99 and come with a starter mode.
Now, the smartphone returns in the news as it joins the product listing on the retail website Best Buy. Best Buy is selling the smartphone for $449.99.
This smartphone, which has a bar form factor, boasts of a WVGA display measuring 4 inches diagonally with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. It had been said that the device will come with a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, but the Best Buy Listing reveals that it will instead run on a 1.2GHz CPU. The device will furthermore have 1GB of RAM as well as a storage capacity of 4GB. The smartphone also has a microSD card slot for expansion. Connectivity options include Bluetooth and 4G connectivity.
The Stellar will have two cameras onboard, a rear-facing camera with a 3.2-megapixel sensor, and a front-facing camera with a 1.3-megapixel sensor. The phone also comes with an MP3 player, hands-free speakerphone, vibration alert, and a phone book.
The Stellar is equipped with a Lithium-Ion battery that promises up to 9 days of standby as well as 17 hours of talk time. It has dimensions of 4-7/8 x 2-1/2 x1/2 inches and weighs 4.7 oz.
The price covers a year of warranty for parts and labor. Users get a charger and a user’s manual along with the tablet.
For those who have been following tech news, this is the same device that had been called the Samsung Jasper a while back. The Jasper had been leaked in June, when it showed up at the FCC website as well as benchmark test results. Even back then, it had been expected to be headed for Verizon.
