Nokia Asha 300 Available in UK

An unlocked and SIM-free version of the Nokia Asha 300 feature phone has finally arrived in the United Kingdom via Unlocked Mobiles after having been announced as early as October last year. The device was first made available in India last December since the phone is targeted mainly at emerging economies. UK fans now, however, can already get their hands on the device for £84.98 including tax. The price covers a 24-month warranty.

A touch-and-type phone, the Nokia Asha 300 features an alphanumeric keypad instead of a QWERTY keyboard along with a touchscreen. It has a monoblock form factor and dedicated hardware keys including Volume, Message, Lock, Call, and End. The display measures 2.4 inches and uses a portrait orientation. For its display, the phone has a 2.4-inch touchscreen of the resistive kind with a resolution of 240 × 320 pixels. The Asha 300 has an internal memory of 140MB that is expandable up to 32GB. It is powered by a 1110.0  mAh replaceable BL-4U  battery. This battery can give up to 4.3 hours of 3G talktime as well as 597.0 hours of 3G standby. Its primary camera has a 5-megapixel sensor and comes with Full focus EDOF and a camera resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels. The phone supports 3G technology and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. There is however, no Wi-Fi and GPS support, which could discourage some consumers. Its OS is Nokia Series 40, Nokia’s OS for its line of feature phones that supports Series 40 Web Apps and Java. Preloaded apps include Facebook, Angry Birds, Whatsapp, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo, Ovi Email, Nokia Messaging, and Nokia Messaging 3.0, along with the usual Calendar, Reminders, Converter, Recorder, Calculator, Alarm Clock, and Reminders.

Included in the full Nokia Asha 300 package are the handset, a battery, a charger, a user guide, a USB cable, and a warranty card. The device comes in a wide range of color options.
