Google To Sell 6 To 8 Milllion Nexus 7 Tablets By The End of 2012

Gartner Inc is estimating that ASUS and Google together probably sold around 1 million to 1.5 million Nexus 7 tablets within the last five weeks alone. The question now is, what will be expecting for the rest of the year? I mean, we have a good 4 1/2 months before the beginning of January 2013 hits. Well, Sameer Sing, founder of Tech Thoughts is estimating that the total Nexus 7 sales will be reaching between 6 and 8 million total units sold (most likely because of the upcoming holiday season). This estimate has been based on expected shipments of the touch panels from TPK Holding and Wintek. It actually look like that a combined total of 2.4 million panels were delivered in both June and July, and is expected that four million panels will be shipped in the third quarter. Others are factoring into the calculation is that it will take ASUS roughly 2.5 weeks to build each and every Nexus 7.

When we go back to Gartner, Carolina Milanesi said that Tech Thoughts estimates are a bit higher than what they are actually expecting, but they did not provide any further details as to how much they are actually estimating. People are also seeing that Google is currently estimating around 3 million units sold for the year, that could be a bit to conservative though. With Google being so popular and the Nexus 7 being a huge device, how would Google not be able to best Amazon’s Kindle Fire’s 5 million sold last year?

There is only one way though, and that is mainstream knowledge. Everyone in the blogosphere loves the Nexus 7, but how many regular consumers have actually heard of the device? There hasn’t been a whole lot of advertising about it, therefore you should go up to 10 random people where you work or just on the street and ask them if they’ve heard of the Nexus 7 tablet. We should all go and do the same thing when the iPad Mini gets its announcement. With that iPad Mini, I’m sure we’ll see a much higher percentage of people that have heard of the tablet due to how very popular Apple is. Lets do the same thing when Amazon’s new Kindle Fire goes out for sale.

The thing is, Google hasn’t advertised enough for every person in the United States or foreign countries to really have a knowledge of what the Nexus 7 tablet actually is. That said, it’s still very well possible for Google to sell a good 5 million units this year. The holiday shopping season is coming up very soon, thus we should expect their numbers to skyrocket. I already have an ASUS Transformer Pad, so I probably won’t be one of the many grabbing one during the holiday season though!

Anyway, does anyone have any idea how many Google Nexus 7’s the company will actually sell by the end of the year? Based off of the facts that were given, there really isn’t a confident estimate. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
