I think we can all agree that literally, everyone, has been waiting for the Cyanogen Mod 10 nightly builds to happen. Well, guess what? They are now rolling out to select devices, while the hard working Cyanogen Mod team gets closer to bringing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to many different Android devices that may have not even received the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Wow. Not getting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, how terrible is that (I’m one of those people, still got Gingerbread on my Motorola Atrix 2! Gah!)?
Various devices such as the Galaxy S i9000, Captivate and Fascinate are going to be receiving the Cyanogen Mod 10 nightly builds, along with its bigger brothers, the Galaxy S II i9100 and Galaxy S III. Currently all we know is that these are for North American versions only. So far, we haven’t seen anything about international version. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a little bit of news on that eventually here, but for now, there’s been no word on it. These AOSP based updates will bring Google Now, Project Butter and numerous of other improvements to all of the new and legacy devices. Also, if you’re handset was compatible with Cyanogen Mod 9 it is likely and there are very high chances that you will also be able to get your hands on Cyanogen Mod 10. Not a guarantee, but it is very, very possible (especially knowing that the HTC Dream was able to get it!).
Here is the full list of the devices that will be able to receive the nightly builds:
- US SGS3 variants
- Galaxy Nexus variants
- Nexus S variants
- Nexus 7
- Transformer and Transformer Prime
- SGS1 variants (Vibrant, Captivate, International, and i9000b)
- SGS2 i9100g
- P3 and P5 tablets
The Cyanogen Mod team has said that more devices will be added to the roster as time goes on. This is currently all their is to it, but as usual, the Cyanogen Mod team is always hard at work when it comes to trying to provide the best experience possible for the user. That said, we’re all going to have to have a little patience when it comes to Cyanogen Mod 10. I know we all want Google Now and Jelly Bean this instant, but let me tell you, it is very much worth the wait however long it takes. Hopefully that wait won’t be to long, but who knows!
As always in a post like this, make sure to keep in mind that you are the only one that is responsible for anything that might happen to your handset if you decide to get into flashing custom ROMs and all. We make sure to emphasis this for a reason as we don’t want to see anyone’s device get bricked or broken something like this. That said, let us know in the comments how you’re enjoying the Cyanogen Mod 10 nightlies!
