Samsung Galaxy S III Hits AT&T, Sprint Version Still Cheaper

The Samsung Galaxy S III has officially landed on AT&T’s shelves and you can grab a unit right now. The device has been available internationally for little over a month now, but it’s never too late says AT&T. The smartphone features exactly the same design as its global sibling with most of the changes made under the hood. Well as you know already, the U.S variants of the device come with a dual core Snapdragon S4 chip to make sure the LTE needs are met. The customers have been waiting for the device to arrive on AT&T’s shelves for a while now, with the Verizon version slated to arrive by 10th July.

AT&T’s version of the GS3 is believed to receive a red color variant exclusive to the carrier. The smartphone will be offered for $199.99 on a two year contract and you can attain the handset without contract for a hefty $549.99. Sprint has the device on its networks too and for much lesser. Heading over to Amazon will get you the [easyazon-link asin=”B00894K248″ locale=”us”]Sprint GS3 for $149.99[/easyazon-link], while Wirefly is offering the device for $179.99 with a free 16GB microSD card and $10 Google Wallet credit. The Wirefly offer is believed to be a limited period promotion. Sprint however, doesn’t offer LTE as of now. Its 4G LTE network will go live in five major cities on July 15.

If you’re still not aware of the specs of the smartphone, let us refresh your brain a little. The Ice Cream Sandwich running device packs a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display, a 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 chipset with the Adreno 225 GPU for proper graphics rendering. The smartphone also sports an 8MP primary camera and a 1.9MP front facing shooter. As a consolation to the American consumers who are deprived of the quad core CPU, there’s 2GB of RAM on board. The Korean maker is using Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 display for protection from the elements of the earth. However, drop tests have proven the device to be very sensitive to accidental drops.
