TC Media Link HD comes to HTC One V

HTC One V, a smartphone from HTC with design similar to HTC Legend and is marketed under the HTC One series. The phone runs Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box and comes with a HTC Sense 4.0 overlay. The phone is great and comes with an aluminum unibody construction. Featuring a 5 megapixel camera, 3.7 inch touchscreen at 480×800 resolution, 512 MB RAM, a 1 GHz processor, and Beats audio, it gives good value to money. It may not be as good looking or clever like its elder siblings, but it is good at its price point. HTC has now released a new official update for HTC One V. The new version of software, 2.08.401.2, will allow the phone to support HTC Media Link HD.

HTC Media Link HD isn’t anything innovative, but just adds a little value to the device. The “technology” was previously supported and reserved for HTC’s high end phones from the HTC One series, but now it seems like HTC has decided to share the goodness with One V too. Media Link HD is basically a device that is small and simple and allows phone to stream content to a bigger display. It is as big as a regular credit card, a dongle that easily fits in the palm of your hand. In order to pair it with HTC One X, HTC One S or now HTC One V, all it takes is a smooth three-finger gesture, and it is paired. Once connected, you can watch movies or videos on your HDTV which is connected to the Media Link HD dongle, while being able to perform other tasks on your phone simultaneously. The phone connected to the device over wlan and the fun part is that you can play a game on your 55 inch HDTV, all wireless. The video on the top shows how the HTC Media Link HD in action. HTC Media Link HD is a great device as lot many people are switching to HDTV, however it is left to the buyer to decide whether it is worth the $90 price tag.

In order to update your HTC One V device to 2.08.401.2 over the air, follow the procedure below:
1. Go to Setting by tapping on the Apps icon from the Home screen.
2. Scroll down to find System updates
3. Tap on the HTC software update option
4. Tap Check now
5. Your phone will check for available updates
6. If a newer version of software is found, you will be prompted to download and install it. It is normal for phone to switch off and on during the update process, so do not panic.
7. If there are no newer updates available, the device will prompt that the phone is Up To Date.
8. Pressing the Home button takes you back to Home Screen.

The update is 46.77MB and is helpful only if you own a HTC Media Link HD dongle.
