With iPad mini rumors getting louder and louder, there are even sales speculations that are making the rounds these days. We are all aware that there is a talk of Apple launching an iPad mini version later sometime in October this year.
Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray even predicts that the mini tablet to be launched by Apple could be hitting the stores later this year at a price of only $299. That makes the iPad mini fit into a narrow corridor right between the iPod touch 8 GB selling at $199 and the iPad 2 16 GB selling at $399. They predict that the iPad mini can curve out 10% sales out of the existing line of iPad products, but they also feel that it can further cut a meaty 30% out of the existing tablet market, something which the brains inside Apple would seriously be looking forward to.
What it means for the physical number of tablets sold? If the latest iPad mini rumors are anywhere near true, that means Apple could end up selling 4-6 million of its yet-to-be-launched tablet in this holiday season. It is pertinent to note that there are rumors of the tablet getting launched sometime in October. Perfect timing in as much as holiday shopping is concerned. If this figures hold water, Apple investors could be looking towards increasing their earnings per share by at least 1%.
Apple iPad mini would come with a 7.85-inch display and a maximum resolution of 1024×768 pixels. Incidentally, the screen of the tablet will have the same display features and technology built in as that of the iPhone 3GS. If Apple will go ahead and launch the iPad mini as they are stating, the tablet market could see some heated competition between it and the likes of Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7.
