Update (June 28th): Virgin Mobile announced today that they have released the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s. The phone is available a full day earlier than originally announced!
As part of its 10-year anniversary celebration, Virgin Mobile US will offer iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S starting June 29th. This has been confirmed by the company itself through an official press release published earlier this month. The phone will be offered under its Beyond Talk unlimited data and messaging plans for as low as $30.
With Virgin Mobile, iPhones will be offered to customers without a contract and no activation and roaming fees; iPhone 4 8GB will be priced at $549 and iPhone 4S 16GB at $649. Aside from the company’s website (www.virginmobileusa.com), customers could also purchase iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S via Best Buy, RadioShack and other local retailers.
Normally, Beyond Talk plan is offered for $35 per month that will give users access to Sprint’s Nationwide Network. However, those who register for automatic monthly payments using credit card, debit card or PayPal would be entitled to receive 5-dollar monthly discount. Customers who want to share their unlimited data by using their iPhone as a mobile hotspot would simply have to pay additional $15 per month.
Virgin Group founder, Sir Richard Branson, said that this is one better way of thanking Virgin Mobile’s loyal customers; giving them a perfect, budget-friendly plan for a perfect phone. He referred to it as ‘A Higher Calling.’ For some, this could be a perfect treat.
Android devices may be catching up in a race against iOS devices but iPhones are still on the lead as far as technology and features are concerned. Thus, companies believe that offering these devices for budget-friendly prices and plans would attract more people and acquire more following. Marketing-wise, Virgin Mobile did a good job.
By offering iPhone 4S does not necessarily mean Virgin Mobile will have the contract to sell the iPhone 5. Perhaps, if “iPhone-with-no-contract” plan succeeds, the company might just offer iPhone 5 in the future. After all, iOS devices are just worth the risk for any telecommunications company in the US.
Below is the pricing from the press release:
