Your Alternative Keyboard App-SwiftKey 3 for Android is Finally Here

The popular alternative keyboard app for Android devices called SwiftKey has made available a fresh version called SwiftKey 3. The app had been on beta for a while, but is now available with a reduced price of $1.99 or £1.49 which is 50 percent less than its initial cost.

SwiftKey claims to help users to type accurately on touch devices. It also comes with auto-correction as well as predictive text features. It was created by Touchtype Ltd., which reveals that the third version of the app comes with a new user interface that allows users for customization with more themes than ever. Among these are ‘Cobalt,’ which was inspired by SwiftKey 3’s user interface, and ‘Holo,’ which recalls the look and feel of Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

The user interface furthermore has been redesigned with a bigger space bar as well as a smart punctuation virtual button for ease of use. The keyboard also moves the 123 key to the lower left corner. A dedicated comma key has been added, too.

The Smart Space feature is an update to the correction functionality, which replaces mistyped words and adds spaces, which are often omitted between words typed on touch screens. The auto-correction happens in real time, saving users from the hassle of going over typed messages afterwards. In general, the Smart Space functionality was enhanced to let users key in email addresses and web addresses effortlessly. The Smart Punctuation pop-up window shows some fine-tuning from Touchtype, as well.

SwiftKey 3 moreover expanded its list of supported languages, which now amounts to 42. Among those included are Serbian, Lithuanian, Icelandic, Estonian, Farsi, Latvian, and Korean.

Lastly, Touchtype made some performance improvements on some devices which are supported by the SwiftKey app. Taking into consideration feedback from users, SwiftKey as well brings to the new version the long-press duration setting.

SwiftKey boasts of having won several awards for its technology, including the Webby Awards People’s Voice Winner for Innovation in 2012, and the Mobile World Congress Award Winner for Innovation in the same year.

SwiftKey 3 is available for Android users via the Google Play Store or the Amazon App Store.
