Samsung Galaxy Tab ICS Update Next Month

Samsung is on a roll these days.  The Next Big Thing Event is happening later tonight in New York City to celebrate the launch of the Samsung Galaxy SIII.  The early indication is that the phone is selling like hotcakes in pre-orders, the carriers can’t keep up with demand.

And now, it seems that they’re making current customers happy by continuing to roll out the Ice Cream Sandwich OS to its tablet line.  The word is the Samsung Galaxy Tab devices should be getting the Android 4.0 update starting next month, in July, and possibly into August.  The models that will be receiving the update include:

GT-P6210 Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 WIFI
GT-P6200 Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 WIFI + 3G
GT-P6810 Galaxy Tab 7.7 WIFI
GT-P6800 Galaxy Tab 7.7 WIFI + 3G
GT-P7310 Galaxy Tab 8.9 WIFI
GT-P7300 Galaxy Tab 8.9 WIFI + 3G
GT-P7510 Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI
GT-P7500 Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI + 3G

It has been a long wait for Android device owners.  Manufactures have been slowly rolling out the OS update to their devices.  The ICS OS was first introduced late last year on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in November.  Almost seven months later, some of the Honeycomb and Gingerbread users are still left in the dust awaiting the update.  But the wait is coming to an end Galaxy Tab owners, you should have your ICS update soon.

With the ICS update from Honeycomb, the tablets should have smoother/faster UI experience.   It also has additional capabilities such as Face Unlock, Android Beam for NFC based sharing, improved multi-tasking, take screenshots, and better browsing experience.
