HTC releasing dual-SIM Desire V and Desire VC Android smart phones

I do not know what happened to HTC and Sony, both of the Android smart phone manufacturers are keen on releasing new mid range smart phones. We have already seen Sony’s Xperia miro and Xperia tipo, which are mid range Ice Cream Sandwich smart phones. And HTC also already has the Desire C, which is a 600 MHz entry level smart phone. Now, the company is back with the announcement with two new smart phones, the HTC Desire V and the Desire VC.

Well, do you want to know the technical specifications of the two new Desire branded smart phones? Well, unlike the HTC Desire C, both the Desire V and the Desire VC will have a single core 1 GHz processor, which puts it in direct competition with the HTC One V. Now, why would a company release two smart phones of the same config? Because there is more to the Desire V and the  Desire VC. Both the phones have a 4 inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 512 MB of RAM (which is a bit less), 4GB of internal memory, 5 mega pixel rear camera, a 1,650 mAh battery, and finally, both of them will be running the latest Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich. And interestingly, both of these are dual SIM smart phones. Yes, this could be a first for such a big manufacturer.

Now, if both the smart phones have the same config, what is the difference? Well, the difference is that the HTC Desire V has two GSM radios, but the HTC Desire VC has one GSM radio and one CDMA radio, it is a hybrid. This is the only difference. There is one obvious concern among the people. Would such a product become a hit? Considering the popularity of the mid range smart phone HTC One V, there is no doubt HTC is going to regret this.

Coming to the availability and the pricing of these two smart phones, Drippler writes:

Speaking to DetikInet, HTC Indonesia head of product marketing Samudera Seto said that the Desire V will be priced at 3.25 million Rupiah (US$340), while the Desire VC will go for 3 million Rupiah ($317). Expect both phones to hit the market this month.

There you go. Interested?
