Gigabyte’s new mechanical keyboard with high speed USB 3.0 ports

Gigabyte is usually known for its cool motherboards. But it seems like the company has decided to move on to other departments of the computer industry. It has some cool new products to showcase at Computex going on in Taipei. And one of the most interesting products is a new mechanical keyboard, and yes, it is a [easyazon-link asin=”B002RRLQIO” locale=”us”]gaming keyboard[/easyazon-link].

If you are a PC gamer, you know how important it is to have the best mechanical gaming keyboard that suits your needs. And this one looks pretty nice to me. First, let us take a look at the different features there are on the keyboard. There is back lighting, usually found on almost all gaming keyboards. The Aivia Osmium mechanical keyboard (yes, that is the name of the keyboard), has a mechanical switch under every key there is on the keyboard, including the five macro keys on the top left corner of the keyboard. This means that the keys will be very smooth. And there are also two analog wheels next to the macro keys. One of the analog wheel controls the brightness of the back lighting on the keyboard, and the other controls the volume.

The keyboard also has a mic in port and an audio out port on the right ridge. This means you have plug in your awesome gaming headphone to your keyboard. This is nothing new, we have seen this before on many keyboards. But what is cool about this is the fact that these ports align with the main mic and audio ports of the CPU.

Also, for the first time in the history of gaming keyboards, there are high speed USB 3.0 ports on this keyboard. This means that you can plug in high speed pen drives which support USB 3.0 ports. So this keyboard is for sure going into the history book. But the sad thing is, the Aivia Osmium will set you back by $100, which is a little bit steep for a gaming keyboard. We have to see if the price will go down anytime soon.
