Color is giving out free macro lenses as part of its new promotional campaign in the United States. The offer is open to residents of the US who both have the Color for Android app on their mobile device as well as the Color for Facebook app.
They simply have to connect the two apps and stream five videos on five different days, after which they will be deemed automatically entitled to get a macro lens. Users should have the broadcasts in Public mode and shared on Facebook, so this is no place for shy ones out there. Then, Color will ask the users for their mailing address then ship the free macro lens right to their doorstep.
This promo runs from June 18th to September 30th or until Color runs out of stocks of the free lenses. International users of the Color for Android app are not allowed to join the contest, unfortunately, because shipping costs are expensive as well as difficult for the small and delicate macro lenses.
The mechanics of Color’s promotion are easy enough, and will encourage users to explore the settings and features of the Color for Android app. Furthermore, since it is not a contest, participants do not need to have some special talent in creating videos to broadcast. That said, perhaps putting some extra effort in tweaking settings might make for less embarrassment since the videos are required to be made public.
Initially a developer of a photo-sharing app, the team behind Color eventually provided live video sharing services. Since it started working with Verizon and offering an HD video streaming service with the carrier, it got a boost in popularity. Its Color for Android app was only recently made available at Google Play, where it can be downloaded for free. The app features live video broadcasts with a 30 second length, integration with Facebook, and the ability to choose an audience for the shared video.
