Panasonic Eluga Android Phone Released In Germany

The Panasonic Eluga (which sounds like ugly) is an absolutely gorgeous phone. It’s made extremely well and it’s water resistant and dust resistant. We doubt we’ll see it in the United States but it has been released in Germany.

It’s also being reported that the device will be available in just a few days in the UK.

The Panasonic Eluga features a waterproof body design and a 4.3″ qHD screen at 960 x 540 resolution. Panasonic’s sleek curved design is ergonomic and Panasonic promises that it makes it easy to operate the phone with one hand.

More after the break

Panasonic’s waterproof design for the Eluga is IP57 certified. That means it’s both waterproof and dustproof and to test that Panasonic had it fully immersed in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. While you can’t go diving into the pool with the Eluga, you certainly don’t have to worry about a flash rain storm or dropping it in a sink full of water.

The Panasonic Eluga boasts a 1 ghz dual core, Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 processor. It has 1gb of RAM and 8gb of internal memory. It also has a microSD slot capable of up to 32gb of external storage.

It’s running Android 2.3.5 out of the gate but Panasonic promises an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the Spring of 2012.

The Eluga is NFC ready out of the box. They’ve also added an “eco mode” that is designed to put less strain on the 1150 mah battery.
