SXSW 2012: Walk Through Google’s Android House

This year Google took over a whole street at South By Southwest. Rainey Street was turned into the Google Village. Unbeknownst to Google when they booked this fun shindig it would rain all weekend so it was a great street to be on.

Google took over the Lustre Pearl bar which was the same bar that played host to the Androidandme/Net Shelter party last year. This year it was again, All Android, but with Google’s flair for fun and branding.

Some of the graffiti Android statues from the Google Music launch had found their way over to the house. There was of course, free Ice Cream Sandwiches in an Android Ice Cream Sandwich logo’d ice cream cart.

More after the break

There were lot’s and lot’s of demos. Most were highlighting what you could do with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. We saw ICS on plenty of Galaxy Nexus’ and also some Asus Transformer Primes,¬† There were green Android jelly beans everywhere and the place was decked out with bugdroid (Andy).

Out back was a stage set up for Google+ hangouts that are going on Satuday and Sunday. Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins and Bobcat Goldthwait highlight the Sunday live guests.

Take a look at our walkthrough video and enjoy.
