MWC: Sony Introduces The Xperia P With White Magic Display

At Mobile World Congress today Sony held a press event where they announced some great things. We just filed our report on the Sony Xperia U, a stylish phone with some cool perks. The Sony Xperia P is another great phone with a display that solves problems for many.

Sony introduced the aluminum unibody smartphone. This phone features a new technology from Sony called “White Magic Display”.¬† This makes the device much easier to read in direct sunlight, which has been a curse for all smartphones for years.

The display is 4 inches. In the camera department there is an 8 mega pixel rear shooter capable of shooting HD video. It’s all powered by a 1ghz dual core processor.

Like the Xperia U, the Xperia P will come to market with Android 2.3 Gingerbread however Sony has confirmed that i will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Xperia P also has NFC technology. With the NFC on board the phone can interact with Sony SmartTags and create macros for your Xperia P. Sony has also announced the Sony Xperia Smart Dock that will mirror the phones display on your tv or allow you to connect other peripherals like a mouse and keyboard (sold separately).

The Xperia P should be available Q2 2012 globally. There will be three groovy colors.
