Phandroid is reporting by way of Androidandme that an HTC rep has revealed that the HTC Flyer is going to get Ice Cream Sandwich in Q1 of 2012. For those who haven’t had their first cup of coffee yet this morning, that’s this quarter.
Now Phandroid is saying that they are going to err on the side of caution with this one. An HTC Rep as reported by the original story and the HTC reps we talk to as journalists are two totally different beasts.
More after the break
HTC has been aggressively releasing source codes and unlocking devices on the developer side of the business. With this fast paced aggressive side of HTC it’s reasonable to believe that we could possibly see Ice Cream Sandwich on HTC’s 7″ flagship Android tablet.
On the other hand you’re talking about a device with a deep, and we mean deep, HTC Sense integration. To top that off, the HTC Flyer debuted with Android 2.3 Gingerbread underneath all that Sense skin and just recently began receiving a Honeycomb update. So really it’s anyone’s guess but for now we’re holding on this hand like our friends at Phandroid.
