Panasonic Entering Android Arena In U.S. In 2012

Panasonic, the Japanese electronics giant, has announced their plans to bring Android phones to North America and Europe.

Once a player in the feature phone arena overseas, Panasonic all but bowed out of the mobile phone market in 2005. They’ve recently introduced their Lumix line of smartphones which are cameras with phones (not phones with cameras).

Last month Panasonic announced their Toughpad Android tablets. These rugged tablets are meant for people who work in the field and need the processing power of an Android tablet while on the job.

Panasonic is reportedly working with a major telecom firm in Europe, that some believe is Vodafone. It’s believed that they will roll out their Android phones in Europe before North America and Asia.¬† They’ve also said they hope to be exporting half of the smartphones they manufacture by 2015.
