HTC Edge To Be First Quad Core Phone?

Our friends at Pocketnow reported Monday that a new device called HTC dubbed the HTC Edge, could be the first quad core Android phone.

The HTC Edge looks to be a 4.7″ Android device. According to pocketnow it will be slightly over 10mm thick. It also looks to have the same 720p resolution and 1gb of RAM. The processor is what makes this phone a beast. The HTC Edge will have the new Nvidia Tegra 3 processor with four 1.5ghz cores and one 500mhz core to run background processes.

Pocketnow also reports that we could see HTC Sense 4.0 and most likely Ice Cream Sandwich.  They expect the device to be released sometime in the first half of 2012.

Nvidia’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said back in September that we weren’t likely to see Quad core phones until 2012 however we will see quad core tablets before Christmas. Asus is expected to formally announced the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime tomorrow which will have a quad core processor from Nvidia as well.
