This past weekend we lost a great member of the Android community and former writer for Thedroidguy, in Josh Cordero. The father of three hails from Carlisle Pennsylvania home to Redskins Training camp and spent most of his life in the Pennsylvania and Western Maryland area.

Cordero was passionate about his family, Android and DJing. That’s how we met actually but not in Maryland in Austin Texas at BBQ 2010. We had all piled into a big black party bus with bull horns on it.  After drinking commenced Cordero said I had looked familiar and asked me if I had opened for Chris Cox and Barry Harris at The Buzz/Nation at the Capital Ballroom in DC. Yup that sure was me and from that point on we were pretty close. We met up a few times back at home in Maryland talked DJ shop and Android of course.  He also started writing for me.

To compound to his heroic struggle with Cancer he had some pretty horrific family news around this time last year and the only support he needed was a break to regroup which he got. I checked in with him a few times and then lost contact.

If you didn’t know it we have an official Slacker/AOL Radio station called TDGN we’re not talking push some buttons on the phone and share “your station” complete with DJ’s, tech features etc.

This coming weekend we’re going to break up our “All your favorite Songs and All Your Favorite Tech” format and make it about some Droidbeats.  We’ve got a bunch of the music that he liked from the current Dub Step to Drum & Bass, straight up techno, jungle, breaks, power house from the 90’s and more.

I’ve reached out to Chris Cox who will probably be sending some love our way and you can leave messages for Josh that will be played on TDGN on AOL Radio and Slacker Radio all week (until Thursday at midnight) the number to call is 815-200-1051

If you’d prefer (and it will sound cleaner) go ahead and make a  one to two minute audio message as an mp3 and send it to [email protected] so you’ve got two ways to contribute.

If you want to just relax and listen tune into

Also just an FYI there will be no commercial inventory next weekend. Commercial Free Droid Beats. Final note, we can only run and handfull of his mixes due to licensing agreements with Slacker but we will run every bit that we can
