Tawian Honors HTC As Top International Brand

When you think about all the toys growing up that were labeled “Made in Taiwan” it’s hard to believe that a company that was once thought of as a smaller OEM is Taiwan’s top international brand.  HTC is currently the world’s 5th largest smartphone maker and has a brand value of $3.6 billion dollars, which is double what it was in 2010.

Following HTC was Acer who’s brand value was $1.94 billion this year. Asustek who’s Eee Pad Android tablets are taking the world by storm, came in third place at $1.64 billion.

“I was surprised when the number was shown on the screen, which is unbelievable for me that only five years ago, HTC started to develop our own brand,” HTC CEO Peter Chou said during his award acceptance speech.

Chou also spoke about the emotional connection that he hopes customers can make with HTC devices. Their decision to purchase part of Beats By Dre, as well as their decision to offer a fashion forward “chic” phone in the HTC Rhyme is evidence of that connection.
