Earlier in the day we reported that Sprint filed a lawsuit against the AT&T/T-Mobile merger. Sprint went for the jugular and in addition to calling out the merger as bad for consumers, bad for competition and bad for innovation they also said they intend to prove that the merger is illegal.
AT&T didn’t sit back and let Sprint rain on their parade. They issued this heavy handed reply in a statement first seen on Engadget
“this simply demonstrates what we’ve said all along — Sprint is more interested in protecting itself than it is in promoting competition that benefits consumers.”
According to Engadget, AT&T went on to explain that they would put up a vigorous (and costly) fight. AT&T is the nation’s second largest carrier and has cash-o-plenty to take this to an all out court brawl. Stay tuned it’s just now heating up.
