Chris “the phone man” Ziegler is reporting today on TIMN that the next installment of the sweet toothed Android saga will be Jelly Bean. That makes logical sense as Google has been using sweet treats in alphabetical order for each of their Android releases. Also Jell-O is a brand name (as is Kleenex) so maybe they wanted to shy away from that.
We could gander that the version after Jelly Bean will be Kustard because there aren’t many other good K sweets out there.
Beyond the Jelly Bean rumor Ziegler points out that his trusted source also says a lot of the bells and whistles that were scheduled for release in ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) are actually moving back a release to Jelly Bean.
We also don’t know which version number Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean will actually be. For the longest time we thought Gingerbread would be 3.0 and Honeycomb would be 4.0 but as we’ve seen they are 2.3 and 3.0 respectively.
