PCD Officially Announces The Android Powered Sharp FX Plus

Sharp’s first Android powered smartphone was rumored a few months back, and today it’s official. Personal Communications Devices (PCD) has announced the Sharp FX Plus.

The Sharp FX Plus brings Sharp into the Android ecosystem in the United States. The FX Plus will be available exclusively through WalMart on the AT&T network.  PCD is billing the FX Plus as a messaging savvy Android phone which would put it in the ranks of the PanTech crossover and the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G. Making it a feature rich messaging phone and a mid-range Android device.

PCD says that the phone is perfect for young socially connected consumers.

– 600mhz processor
– 512mb of RAM
– 3 megapixel camera
– microSD slot supporting up to 32gb
– Android 2.2 Froyo
– Access to the Android Market with 250,000 apps
– 4 row slide out QWERTY keyboard
– earSmart technology

“The Sharp FX Plus combines the popular touch screen with the convenience of a slide-out keyboard,” said Philip Christopher, president of PCD. “It’s the best of both worlds – and customizable menus add to the convenience, congregating user content into one platform.”

The Sharp FX Plus is available now exclusively at Walmart stores and Walmart.com for just $28.88 on a new two year agreement with AT&T.
